James Bond is back in action in this deluxe omnibus with four timeless tales starring Agent 007. Featuring the iconic Octopussy and The Hildebrand Rarity, based on the short stories by Ian Fleming, which are presented alongside The Harpies and River of Death, two unique adventures created by Jim Lawrence. These lavishly presented, high-action adventures are restored from the original Daily Express comic strips.

I have written this so many times before but the Titan Books reprints of these newspaper strips are incredible. Crisp black and white and, having seen some of the parts to the strips herein when they were first printed in newspapers, this book is like a Christmas present for the eyes.

Horak draws Bond like a man who has been through the rough end of a meat grinder. That tough and ready Connery look with a few extra "hard~lines" chiseled into the face. I was never fond of the character Trudi ~her eyes are a bit too large for me (I have that problem with Manga!) but all the other women are wonderfully drawn. Does he draw Octopussy to look like Maud Adams? LOL Having read all of the Bond books up to John Gardener's Colonel Sun I can tell you that the movies have little in them from the books. And Octopussy is definitely not drawn like Adams ~you'll need to either read the Bond book or....buy this one to see why that is so funny.

If you like you spy action and stories with a few twists with a touch of criminals as well as Cold War then this one is for you!

Horak and Lawrence's team up on this is well remembered!

Ancora aperte le iscrizioni per il workshop di sabato 25 novembre dell'illustratore Chris Judge.
Un albo illustrato è un sistema organico in cui molte componenti grafiche, iconografiche, testuali si intrecciano. Una giornata con Chris Judge per percorrere i punti nodali della costruzione di un picture book, dallo sviluppo di una storia, alla costruzione dei personaggi, dal respiro delle doppie pagine fino alla presentazione all’editore.

STEFANO RICCI/PASQUALE MIRRA: SEGNOSONICO

Uno dei fili rossi che BilBOlbul 2017 prova a inseguire, e che probabilmente non si esaurirà nel corso di quest’anno, è il rapporto e dialogo tra il linguaggio del fumetto (e del disegno più in generale) e quello della musica e dei suoni.

In particolare ci si è voluti concentrare sull’atto improvvisativo e performativo, dove i due media sono accomunati dal gesto e da un sottile equilibrio tra istinto e progetto.

Il progetto prende il via oggi, lunedì 13 novembre, alle ore 20.30, presso il Teatro San Leonardo:Stefano Ricci e Pasquale Mirra si esibiranno in una performance di musica e disegno, improvvisando e facendo dialogare i loro rispettivi linguaggi in un unico e intenso flusso, che nascerà dall’influenza reciproca dei gesti e della presenza.

E si conclude domenica 19 novembre, con uno spettacolo aperto presso Unipol Auditorium, che vedrà coinvolti tutti gli studenti partecipanti al laboratorio di questa settimana guidato dai due artisti.

The first Forks RainCon - June 2018

FORKS, WASHINGTON - RainCon is on the way.

The first Comicon to be held in Forks, Washington has a tentative date of June 22-24, 2018. A location has yet to be finalized.

RainCon is organized by Evan Sveum, of the comics shop by Home Slice Pizza in Forks. Donna Barr, organizer of the successful Clallam Bay Comicon, provides back-up administration and assistance as needed.

Admission to RainCon is free to the public. Raincon is encouraging anyone wanting to be a guest speaker or run an event to contact as soon as possible. Fan suggestions are very welcome. Prices for tables are being kept to a minimum

"Comicons" are entertainment conventions with a basic interest in the many forms of drawn books - but are very welcoming to any any all creative and entertainment endeavors. This is why they grow so quickly. Anything from The Tick to Twilight to Steampunk to Manga is welcomed with open arms. Local businesses are encouraged to offer special events and sales to attendees.
