Phase Two Has Begun!

That sounded dramatic, didn't it?  No ants trying to take over the world.  No beetles trying to take over the world nor any other member of the insect kingdom thinking about taking over the world.

Am I the only one worries about that?  Forget the primates the ants are going to be the ones to watch. They've bitten me a few times this year...okay, I was infringing on their territory but do I need a United Nations border guard in my own garden?

I've forgotten where I was now....spiders....never ever kill a spider. They will get you back and don't think I am kidding. Spiders as big as my hand!

What was Phase II?  Hang on....

....get a life (yeah, that's likely)...

Ah. Yes, Phase II of Black Tower.  If you read the AOP Blog (link on the blog roll) you will have noticed that the number of prose books has risen -all non fiction.  A couple others are planned but they are so secret even I am not allowed to know what they are.  Bit unfair but there you go.

Phase II does not just mean expanding to more prose but the comics/graphic novel side of things are being re-arranged.  The eight issue Black Tower Super Heroes, of which 7.5 issues are completed, will see publication in 2018 along with a couple of one-shot titles.  This will lead up to the third and final part of the Invasion Earth Trilogy which should have seen print in 2014 -The Green Skies.

Phase II covers 2018 only and will be a concentration on publishing only since no UK comics event seems willing to allow Black Tower to book a table.

There could be a couple of surprises but if I said anything now it might jinx things...and they would not be a surprise.

Could Disney Make Marvel Comics A Fan Favourite Again?

The answer to that question is "Yes".  How?  Well, it would be simplicity itself and it would wipe out the big mess Marvel Comics became in the last ten years.

Of course, Disney can pay me for this Marvel Comics saving idea.  Do you think that would happen? No, neither do I.  If anyone from Disney even knew this blog existed I'd faint!  So we'll sit back and watch what happens but I bet it will be nothing like my idea!

I Have Been Gone. I Will Be Gone Again.

Did anyone realise that I was gone? As it happens I can only update CBO every-so-often.  The reason is that, due to the current lack of financial position I find myself in...well, not that you care,obviously.

Sales of my books are at zero so that doesn't help and it's okay, I understand that you come here to get what you want then go -especially the ones who repost my old posts as their own. Sad.  Fandom is dead and there is no support for Independents -I get that too.

With all the fake Marvel and other editors versus Liefeld news which is simply to keep comic readers interested and the even faker SJW versus Marvel 'war' (they are just producing crap comics) and sites like Bleedin' cool being an industry mouthpiece helping spread fake news around....I had to step back.

 This is not fandom. It isn't even giving comic 'fans' anything really new just putting a spin on things. The lack of comments on any CBO items proved long ago that there are no real fans out there reading this blog.

If I post here it is because I want to.  The "I get it in the post and I review it" policy is still here and so are, apparently, all the blog readers from around the world.  Which makes me laugh more when I read small publishers bemoaning the fact that no one will review their books. I think CBO has been going 20 years now...maybe in ten more these people will catch on.

I would much sooner review and post fun or interesting items but my books are not selling and I get the same crap from event organisers that they are fully booked (even with events where the dates have not yet been announced??).  My books are my income and my income is zero.

I blabbering now so time to go.

1 DICEMBRE 2017 BILBOLBUL - XI EDIZIONE: GRANDE SUCCESSO PER IL FESTIVAL RINNOVATO Si è chiusa l'undicesima edizione di BilBOlbul. Festival internazionale di fumetto di Bologna, che dal 24 al 26 novembre ha invaso la città. Anche quest'anno i giorni del festival sono giunti al termine. Un'edizione che ha visto ancora una volta un cambiamento nella sua formula. A un maggiore impegno nei progetti di formazione ha infatti corrisposto una maggiore selezione nel numero delle mostre e degli eventi, premiati tuttavia da un'affluenza di pubblico niente affatto minore. Quest'anno le mostre principali del festival erano quella dedicata all'estro del grande maestro del fumetto Jacovitti in Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna e la grande monografica su Éric Lambé nella cornice della Pinacoteca di Belle Arti. Attorno a queste due mostre si sono poi raccolti i progetti speciali legati a Rodolphe Töppfer, Stefano Ricci e Bastien Contraire, e le due mostre dedicate ai talenti emergenti di Conor Stechschulte e Fabio Tonetto. Questa edizione ha visto una maggiore concentrazione su progetti di lunga durata e su progetti di formazione con scuole di tutti i gradi di studio, come il progetto Segnosonico di Pasquale Mirra e Stefano Ricci, realizzato, in collaborazione con Bologna Jazz Festival, la settimana prima del festival, con una masterclass conclusiva il sabato pomeriggio in Salaborsa, per tirare le fila di un workshop durato una settimana durante il quale i due artisti hanno lavorato con ventiquattro studenti di quattro istituti bolognesi alla creazione sull'improvvisazione di musica e disegno e sulla fusione di questi due linguaggi nella performance finale tenuta domenica 19 novembre presso l'Auditorium Unipol di Bologna. Nuova formula anche per gli incontri: non più presentazioni editoriali, ma tavole rotonde e ritratti d'autore che hanno coinvolto artisti, scrittori e studiosi. Dal convegno internazionale su “Le meravigliose invenzioni del signor Töppfer” agli incontri dedicati al fumetto di poesia oppure alle nuove vie della comicità disegnata, dalla tavola rotonda sull'eredità di Jacovitti tra gli autori contemporanei, tenuto presso la Sala Carracci di Palazzo Magnani, ai ritratti d'autore di Enrique Breccia ed Éric Lambé. Agli autori ospiti del festival si sono così affiancate personalità come Giorgio Vasta, Antonio Faeti, Thierry Groensteen e Paul Gravett. BilBOlbul termina, ma senza finire del tutto:moltissime sono infatti le mostre che rimarranno visitabili ben oltre il termine del 26 novembre: Il teatrino perpetuo di Jacovitti (Fondazione del Monte, via delle Donzelle, 2) prosegue fino al 5 gennaio 2018. Si ha tempo fino al 17 dicembre per visitare la mostraApparizioni/Sparizioni dedicata alle opere di Éric Lambé presso la Pinacoteca Nazionale (via Belle Arti, 56) e fino al 10 dicembre per visitare la mostra Più Giù di Stefano Ricci da Squadro Stamperia Galleria d'Arte (via Nazario Sauro, 27/b). La mostra Oggi non ho fatto niente di Fabio Tonetto al Capodilucca Creative Hub (via Capo di Lucca 12/12a) prosegue fino al 3 dicembre, mentre Il peso dell'acqua di Conor Stechschulte allo Spazio& (via Guerrazzi, 1) chiude il 20 dicembre. Resteranno invece le pubblicazioni: il volume che accompagna la mostra di Jacovitti, edito da Coconino Press/Fandango, che comprende articoli e omaggi di fumettisti contemporanei al grande autore scomparso; e il "catalogo" del festival BBB17 - In corso d'opera che racconta il percorso di costruzione e ideazione del festival attraverso conversazioni degli organizzatori, interviste, articoli, due storie inedite (di Francesco Cattani e Ratigher, e di Nicolas Robel) e moltissime immagini per riflettere sui rapporti tra fumetto, poesia e astrazione. Ma soprattutto, all’insegna del nuovo slogan che ci accompagna “Un anno di BilBOlbul, tre giorni di festival”, i progetti di formazione proseguono prima di tutto con visite guidate alle mostre del festival, e poi con nuovi progetti per scuole e insegnanti dedicati al fumetto e alla narrazione per immagini che prenderanno il via nei prossimi mesi, e senza dimenticare l’appuntamento periodico con BBBConsiglia, che continuerà, mese dopo mese, a proporre e approfondire il meglio delle nuove proposte editoriali pubblicate in Italia.
