Not the traditional story but fun none the less. The ever cultured Cushing at his rare but aggressive best ! He was actually in a short lived TV series about Holmes. Happy memories. Cheers Terry. TTFN
ReplyDeleteYup. I watched the Cushing-Nigel Stock Sherlock Holmes on TV (9.30pm) and the series was more faithful to Baskervilles than the movie. There was also a US made Sherlock Holmes series starring Ronald Howard (son of actor Leslie Howard) and Howard Marrion Crawford as Watson in the 1950s. The stories were....not very faithful to anything. Then Jeremy Brett came along and blew all of them out of the water INCLUDING Benedict Cumberbatch! I also watched the silent movies and 1920s/1930s movies at one time (no, I didn't actually go to the cinema back then!!).
ReplyDeleteYep. Jeremy Brett was the best. Season one was fantastic. Did you know Roger Moore also played Holmes in the movie Sherlock Holmes in New York ? A fun and entertaining romp !
ReplyDeleteYep. Not that impressed by it though/ May try to watch again and did you know Christopher Lee played Sherlock Holmes in the 1962 film "Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace" (made in Italy) and two later TV movies, "Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady" (1991) and "Incident at Victoria Falls" (1992). He also notably played Mycroft Holmes in the 1970 film, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes" Fluffy Henderson applied make up. He had nothing to do with any films he just like to have a bit of slap on.
