Eve is beautiful and chaperoned by an abusive mother who outrageously
exploits her daughter’s natural charms.
Eve arrives as a 16 year old in New York, then
a megalopolis in full economic explosion. Very
quickly, her radiant beauty
is captured by painters, photographers and advertising of the “Belle Epoque.”
But the
rise of the "real American Eve" - "the true
American Eve", as she was described -
is that lightning
that will be her sordid downfall.
In this graphic novel, using soft watercolors, Nathalie Ferlut chose to trace the six crucial years in the life of Eve Nesbit, icon of the early twentieth century. A successful demonstration of knowledge narrative and a fine example of "biopic" drawn.

Don’t
think that this is just “so-so” because if you are really interested in pop
culture and the iconography and lifestyle of the “celebrity” you must
learn about Evelyn Nesbit. You think the things celebrities get up to today can
seem bad!
And
the art by Ferlut is superb. This is the type of book we ought to be making in
the UK!
