Seriously, I Got Ripped Off More Than Alan Moore....

One of THE best selling, most downloaded graphic novels of comics history is a little piece of filth written by me and drawn by the late Art Wetherell titled Two Hot Girls On A Hot Summer's Night -originally a much reprinted 4 issue black and white comic series.

It was pirated and published in a number of languages including Spanish and French.
This was followed by another straight-to-graphic novel book (illustrated this time by Scotsman David Gordon) titled Maeve: One Girl Four Women.

Last time the illegal downloads were checked the first book had reach 934,675 while Maeve had reached 138,908 downloads.  Not a penny from any of these sites.

But do I bleat? No.

Am I embarassed that in (I think) 1995 I got a "Golden Willy Award" from some German "Adult entertainment event? Uh, yes. I would really have preferred an Eisner or Harvey but they don't take filth seriously.

There is even, I am told, a "Two Hot Girls" porno film.  Was I consulted? No. Was I paid? No. Was I allowed on set as a technical advisor? No. Which am I most upset at....you decide!

And do you know what? I had a written contract with the publisher which I ammended and signed -and I still got ripped off because BOTH parties have to have integrity when a contract is involved.

But unlike the worldly Alan Moore who was an 'innocent' when he was 'robbed' by DC over Watchmen -it was all his own fault and he knows it and it was HE who stipulated when rights to the book reverted to him- I had no doubt that a publisher could never be trusted.

So, let's draw a line under Moore and his statements.  When he writes a new comic then CBO will consider him again.

In comics we all get ripped off which is why you should always publish your own books if you can!

"Lost Girls"....amateur.
