Marvel Comics Avengers....or maybe it isn't?

Well, there I was shopping and seeing a few shelves still crammed full of the vacuous crap they call "comics" these days I thought I'd see what you get for £3.99 -let's be honest that's £4.00.

I decided to pick up the "most popular" title The Avengers which, for a claimed very popular comic is certainly filling up the shelves everywhere I've been and  really not selling. So, you have your "stuff" in the usual sealed plastic bag (below).

Open it up and you have....some cheap stickers (I've seen these in Pound Shops and even being sold for 50p).  You have the glossy "magazine" because these are not comics as the company keep pointing out.  Oh, yes, the ever popular -in EVERY such pack of whichever title you find attached to these toys- "nerf" gun.  Any colour but just add your titles sticker and it's 'unique'.....yeah.

Out of 36 pages you get 11 of which are comic strip. "Attack on Asgard" in case you had not noticed.  A couple of double paged posters which are okay but nothing special and then the usual fact files and puzzles. Now, come on; this is NOT a comic.  It is an activity pack and not a great one.  Some kid somewhere must be able to re-arm SHIELD with all the nerf guns they have!

The stickers.  Stickers were BIG amongst kids...in the 1970s.  But these help to fill the bag -I use "fill" sarcastically.  Stickers have limited appeal because you use them once and...that's it.
Back Cover Hulk poster which does involve ripping up the magazine obviously...as does using one of the posters inside.  meh.
Just in case you needed to know what the toy gun looks like.....

Now, I keep saying that "Marvel" is not a company but one of the subsidiaries of Disney.  So, to prove the point I checked the legal guff and in big letters it reads: "Disney Publishing Worldwide" and not "Marvel Comics" because Marvel Comics as a publisher ceased to exist.

If I were interested in getting a kid to read and to read comics I'd avoid the bilge in newsagents and supermarket shelves.  Go to a comic shop -just look up "comic shops" for your area.  Buy a couple comics and get the kid(s) to read them...buy them a drawing book, too.

£4.00 for this and you must have money to throw away!
