I Wake Up And It Seems The World Is Still there -And I NEVER Imagined Kanye West (he's real!)

As these photos are, apparently, really getting into certain peoples minds and making them angry I thought I'd upload this one again just for them!

"Someone" told me to brace myself over some internet group chat going on about what can be done about me.  he seemed rather taken aback that I wasn't shocked!

So part of the comments shared by some of those "really nice guys" of UK comics and passed along to me by someone I can't name for obvious reasons!

"We all know the con organisers and if we keep chipping away we'll make sure the twatt never gets his much sought after table to sell his crap"

The "twatt" by-the-by, is me.

No such thing as a "UK comics Mafia"? They've helped destroy UK comics and try to pitch themselves the golden boys of comics to be admired and worshipped. Ask me again WHY I think the UK is dead comics-wise....

On the lighter side of things the new trend amongst former comic 'die-hard fans' has emerged.  Live reviews of comics are in the minority now.  The "New Thing" is watching movies or TV programmes live -via Google chat where 3-4 people link up via video- so we can get their comments and views and even outrage at the way something was done.  We don't get to see the programme or movie just the, uh, 'reviewers' sitting there.   Some really do need to improve the decor of their basements/rooms because spending 2+ hours looking at them...well, I sort of went comatose.

But it does get..."better" -reviews and thoughts on comic books series...from 30+ years ago. Yeah, everyone linked up and totally talking crap and confused because 30+ years ago they weren't even born so "don't get all this 1980s doom and gloom war stuff".  Right.

All very annoying -almost as annoying as the comment: "Until, say 2004, comics were not very original -Marvel and DC have thrown continuity out the windows and the reboots make comics fresh!"   I'm assuming that the person who said that has a mental illness.  He is talking about comics being "throw-away" -every time a new reboot comes in get rid of that old crap and buy the new.  This is why comics are in trouble: there is no emotional investment in characters or titles any more.

No, I just can't write about it.  Pointless.

Anyway, back to decorating.

  1. Nice eye in the sky for Green Skies there. We've had Green Earth, Boiling clouds and now this.... phenomena... as for people sitting around and reviewing things with 'humourous' remarks. Let them have their fun. It's the comments section of the blog world come to life. It's not serious. This uninformed mouthpiece' journalism' is just a fad. Ignore it. 'Everybody' wants their own group and to listen to and be 'respected' by the others in the group. It's part of how people/kids learn to live in a bigger world - to feel some safety at school - at work - in their community... it's something we should throw off as we get older - but many don't or can't. Anyway - I rant. Off to work. Let me know when the package arrives.

  2. It's probably best, for sanity's sake, not to even attempt to rationalize these things.

  3. Ahh. You mis-understand. I'm interested in people and what they do and why (if i was an evil genius I'd exploit that BWAHAHAHAH---oh). Basically, it is building up their world. Hum-drum daily grind of employment or unemployment and maybe not mixing with others because they won't understand what you are talking about comic wise or cult TV/film. So a group of you and your video blogger pals link up and watch a movie live while commenting on it. Probably more satisfying to them than trying to find something new or interesting to say about new or old comics that hasn't been said already -several dozen times. I can go to a museum and look at a piece of Babylonian temple wall or ancient artefact or even an Egyptian mummy (that really ought to be sent back to Egypt) and it's interesting BUT does not do a great deal for me -BUT I do want to meet the persons who built that temple wall, the person who is now mummified or even the people who made those neolithic tools. Its the people and what they do/did and why and how they lived. Like music -I've got Bobby Darin singing Mack The Knife blaring out and....I'm babbly. So, no. I do not find you attractive (was that the question???)

    1. Yes. To me, it's the people, not necessarily their artifacts - but then if the artefact is of such an important nature to them, ie; religious. There is nothing so 'alien' as another human being? Some might say that it is a wonder that we communicate at all. We all have our commonalities, but, were such a thing as a truly universal translation system, for example, the poor old Babel Fish, would it result in peace through an understanding via all that we have in common, or eternal conflict, because we finally realized that we really can't tolerate the differences twixt each other?

  4. Conflict. It's only through homogenized 'culture' that we people can understand each other. It's true that daily work, simple interactions and simple trade can be carried out quite effectively between different peoples... but... the deeply held cultural underpinnings of how we truely view the world and understand our place in it - they really do not match culture to culture. Simply look at the religious divisions among people of the same race, sharing the same language and often same history ( though viewed from different perspectives in most cases ) that have happened in every country on Earth ( I don't think I'm being particularly hyperbolic here ) and I think we can see, sadly, that the Babel Fish would be a major cause for strife. Y'know, the first thing that humans would do - if a Bable Fish system were ever produced ( and there are translator systems out there that are getting very good) - is make a code language ( as we did with Cockney ) to beat the system ! Humans.... a unique bunch, and, I'm afraid to say, a very destructive and wilfully disparate bunch.

    1. I suspect that the homogeneity is basically primeval in nature, with a few augmentations, possibly Anglo-American, at present, possibly Anglo-American in nature, and through either colonisation and/or science/technology with a bit of sub-culture - Burgerking and jeans thrown in. The vast middle chunk from the Neolithic period to when we all started to bump up against each other in the modern world is still akin to tectonic plates rubbing together the wrong way triggering instantaneous disaster, when unfamiliarity has grown to such an extent that one wrong look can trigger mutual annihilation.

    2. Would grief be like unto fire and give out smoke, Earth would forever be plunged in darkest night. ( somewhere around the tenth century, can't remember who said it )

    1. Terry: whoever said that comics were not original until 2004, has, as you well know, not a clue as to what he is blathering about. I can well understand that the problem is that equally shallow people actually believe this twaddle. H-She obviously has no experience of comics previous to that date or an imagination the size of gnat's piddle or both! The word I have come to use regarding such people is that they are a pissart with all the degree of knowledge of one. Take comfort, please, that true friends respect and love you likewise as a true friend. Now, put the kettle on and have a good ol' brew up. How terribly English.

  6. Oh. And John, a small English Haiku I wrote 5 (?) years ago. all man has achieved / can be flame / in a TITLE: In the begining was... the idea was; man is his own God and through man's command the world could be... well. Not my best but I keep it on my wall.

    1. Mebbe we should keep vewy, vewy quiet. I have a book of Haiku somewhere in Motley Hall. Maybe the contents leaked into the surrounding environment and that could be why I can never find anything for certain. Haiku as a dimension. Hmm. Thymus may have something to say about that. Were the wall demolished, would the Haiku stay in place?
