The Bristol International Comic Expo was the best event in the UK comics calendar. Pity it took two people one year to kill it.
Very nice chap to talk to -Dave Gibbons. I did partake of chatting on the old CBO with the fella holding the mic but me and names..."Budgie"?
Ah, the Etheringtonm Brothers. The guy standing and staring in the background seemed to object to my taking photographs even though the camera was not pointed at him....so he steps out into the shot!
Great Manga creator (and singer) Emma Vieceli!
Sad looking at this now. Jon Haward at the Classical Comics table with Nigel Dobbyn next to him.
Nope. Chatted and even exchanged emails with the guy in the FF t-shirt but...
Classical Comics table: Karen Wenborne and Jo Wheeler
Ah, the style! The Manga! Sonia Leong whom, I understand, had just flown back from Paris.
Brian M. Clarke of Crikey! magazine.
Olivier Cadic, founder of Cinebook The 9th Art and a small friend.
This was a panel meant to be about Japanese Manga with guests from Japan but no proper mics and badly presented...we came away not knowing much more (other than that the woman in the hat was much fancied by members of the audience).
the guy to the extreme right seemed to know a lot about Manga and was the main person asking questions -but then, he was close to the table....and didn't seem to want to talk to me :-(
The regular problem with Expo panels was a poor hotel sound system. I think this was a talk about something that was going to be "major" in British comics. Like all the other "major" events announced -it fizzled away.
Emma Vieceli and Sonja Leong. The guy to the left I know was relaxed and laid back. The bearded guy was a pain.
I think the above was a Knockabout Press panel. I know the lady in the multicoloured top was wife(?) of the founder. Bennet is all my mind comes up with!
Above: panel about comics in Japan. Someone in this photo has a lifelong CBO ban. Can you guess who, kids? He's in the below photo, too!
Where I know who is who I'll identify them but the old blog is no more and that identified every one!
