Comic Stores and Companies ARE Going To Go

We are all sick and tired hearing THAT other news (I am NOT using the name as so many blogs and you tube channels are using it as click bait)  but something needs commenting on.

Firstly comic shops are going to close for however long. They cannot milk the customer so they cannot in turn be milked by distributors. That will hit companies and particularly the big one -DC, Marvel, Image and Dark Horse.  One Disney exec has been reported as saying "Marvel movies make mmorethan the comics so its easy to see which will get dropped iof its a financial crisis".

It is a financial crisis. People in the US are losing their jobs and unlike some more advanced countries those owning homes and business will lose them. The US does not even have a health care system. So it looks bleak.

The thing is that comics may still get made but who is buying? One thing you can guarantee is that the illegal downloading of comics is going to rise (now might be the time for the authorities to see WHO is getting fully scanned comics the day before they are released).

For smaller Independents...this is very bleak and I think many are going to vanish.

Someone said to me "But if people can't get to stores to buy comics you'll do okay -you have an online store!"  No, it doesn't work that way. At the moment the postal delivery sign for packages to prevent any possivble contamination and my mail is handed to me at arm's length. If postal deliveries stop then no one is going to buy. Some people are paranoid over receiving post so ordering something that comes through the system is not a "thing" for them. Being honest I could not care less about people buying my books right now -there are more impiortant things.

There are new books on the store front but I am not expecting sales.I will continue to produce books (I think there are 100 on the store at the moment) and publish them but that's it. What is going on right now could last a year but even 6 months means stores and publishers vanishing and DC or Marvel talking abourt new price rises are cutting their own throats.

Just don't panic. Take care of yourself and take isolationism to be a time when you can read comics and graphic novels in your collections or even wartch DVDs -hey, try writing something or drawing -open a blog. Just do not sit there getting depressed about a First World problem -action figures and comics will still be here but probably costing less.

Some reviews coming up soon but why not check the Black Tower and Golden Age blogs or Face Book pages. Keep your minds busy. 😆😆😆😆
