Just to prove a point (as another publisher for their sales figures!) here are the current sales and all the UK ones make no money as they are copies I bought for friends or as freebies.
The only three sales are those from the United States, as are most sales it seems (I'm told by several people there is a lot of interest in Black Tower books....uh, please buy?).
Why the UK is not my market place because I've sold five books here in as many years.
If you ever visit the online store you will probably ask "Why?" books are not selling, especially if you pay attention to the ads on CBO showing the range of genres covered. Beats me.
But, THANK YOU whoever you are in the US!

Literally five in the UK? So 'Some More Things Strange And Sinister', the Canids book to myself and the Maakika art book to a friend of mine plus two more. Right. No wonder you are so deeply fed up with the United Kingdom and with the hard graft you have put in to all these books. the ones I have are hugely enjoyable and I rescued one from Bib's collection when much of his stuff came my way.
ReplyDeletei expect no better than the UK. No comic industry. No real comic fan base any more and it has NEVER supported its creators -most got respect and fan reaction from Europe but UK....nah. John Cooper was "taken aback" at the reaction to his presence at a Norwegian convention.
ReplyDeleteAnd no further place to look for publishing, other than Lulu, for your investigative books? They are the sort of books that 'Encounters' club may have sold back in the eighties. The nearest I have found recently is Flame Tree Publishing. They have a PDF catalogue which is annoying in itself. I hate reading catalogues off a screen. The British Comics Gold collection of yours is a nice reminder of Bib's obsessive indexing as he has three loose pages of index. He also has pencilled in page numbers and asterisks to his favourites.

ReplyDeleteIt's a nice reminder of old times and Bib's obsessive compulsive indexing, and I think Dickon has taken after him. it's nice that drawings and roughs turn up as I look through the folders again, including roughs of the Braque versions of captain Biplane that I persuaded him to hand over to me. He actually recycled most of his rough drawings!
