Wedding bells are sounding for Guido the Jinx, but as always he’s in over his head and Modesty and Willie must fight to save him, and the world, from bio-terrorists in‘The Last Aristocrat’.

Modesty and Willie are forced to become quarry in a big game hunt, playing for keeps in ‘The Killing Game’. In their final tale ‘The Zombie’ the pair must rescue an old Network friend from a super-computer building cult.

Well, according to The Times: "These are the finest escapist thrillers ever written" and they are fun.  When I think that it was in the early 1970s that I came across Modesty Blaise amongst the cartoon strips in the Bristol Evening Post I have to cringe.  I've said this all before so let's not go over it again!

I have had a soft spot for Modesty and Willie Garvin ever since.

The quality of these Titan reprints is, as I've written before, absolutely gorgeous.  Yes, the stories and characterizations are great but come on ~Romero is the artist.  These volumes show so much detail in his work and either it's a trick of my memory or the old newsprint and presses never reproduced this detail as well as modern printing does. The line work, cross~hatching and other tiny details show up really well.  Lovely black ink on crisp, semi glossy white paper...just lush!*

This is the kind of thing wannabe comic artists should be looking at and studying not reading the manual for their wacom or whatever. Romero =comic art genius.

Recommend this book?  Too bloody right!
