A A quick response to a question about why I never include the list of reviewers of Cinebook titles in the summaries like this. Well, do you think they mention CBO? Also, it may not be much but CBO has reviews (even though Cinebook forgot to include a link to this blog again) so why push people in the direction of other blogs?
Now, get on to reading what really matters!

Dear Reader, | | Well, 2024 is coming to a close, and we’d like to make sure this year goes out with a bang-bang – with a brand-new episode of none other than Lucky Luke! The Lonesome Cowboy suddenly has to contend not just with the usual outlaws and prairie hazards, but instead with the dangers of an urban environment and industrial action! Strikes in the breweries of Milwaukee threaten the West’s way of life – can Luke sort it out?! All of us here at Cinebook wish you the best and merriest of holidays, and we will see you in 2025 – with more wonderful books, more outstanding series … and a couple of thick, rigid surprises! You’ll see, by Jove! December with Cinebook – please read responsibly! | | | This month, we’d like to shine a spotlight on a fairly new bookshop in Edinburgh, Scotland. La Belle Adventure was opened this year by Annabelle and Benoit, two natives of South-Western France. After a long history with the world of the 9th Art (comics) they moved to Edinburgh with the intent of correcting the absence of a place dedicated to bandes dessinées in the Scottish capital. But this laudable aim is not their only one, and they return the Scottish people’s love of French culture with their own interest for the local comics production. In their shop, you will find BD in French, English translations such as our titles, and also comics from small local publishers – a sort of cultural Auld Alliance. You will also find an exhibition area for events, meetings and signing sessions with, and exhibitions of the art of, French and Scottish artists – often in collaboration with the Institut Français of Edinburgh and the Glasgow Alliance Française. If you’re a fan of French comics, or eager to learn more about Scottish comics, and you find yourself in or near Edinburgh, then we cannot encourage you enough to pay La Belle Adventure a visit, and lend your support to their already growing success! |
