There was a very brief discussion via gmail chat and one person asked why I did not try to get Black Tower comics and graphic novels published in China. A second person agreed that was a good idea.
The truth is that I tried that in the 1980s several times and them in the 1990s -it is one of the reasons why the Chinese Phoenix Team was created. I gave up in the mid 2000s when it was clear Manga was more popular with publishers. In fact I even tried Hong Kong but nope. I know that prior to Google doing its banning of Chinese views on Blogger.
Yes, I know there are restrictions on Google in China but it is supposedly still the most popular browser BUT Blogger does not count views from the PRC (I know as before a block was put on views the total views from China stood at over 1.5 million. I have someone who knows how to check things that I cannot get to because I just have no interest and he knows the ins and outs. Checking for me he tells me that there are still views from China and that total numbers up to March 2025 was around 2 million.
The fact that Chinese language posts (there are a few) still get high views and that when the Phoenix Team story Evil of the Salamander was posted here a year ago it got very high views.
Chinese Manhua history is something I look at and I have a few Hong Kong/PRC Manhua but HK Manhua is HK Manhua and China pushes Manga more. There are a lot of Chinese heroes featured in Return of the Gods and The Green Skies "just in case" but just as with India nothing has worked and I did point out many years ago that either India or China could invest in British comic publishing.
