I remember the New Mutants when it was first published. The original artwork was by the wildly talented Bill Sienkiewicz. Great story line, too - by Chris Claremont ? I forget now. I was thinking about ( Doom patrol, of all things ) why the Avengers comics might be poorer and poorer.... lack of compelling characters might be the cause. Perhaps they all seem to be interchangable because they are all characterless. Doom Patrol is flawed, but the flaws keep the characters, in the TV show anyway - I watched a couple of episodes off the PC - interesting and engaging, if not compelling. Anyhoo, I'm m for sleep now. Tomorrow is another big test day. Seeya.
ReplyDeleteCharacters have been killed off, returned, rebooted so many times that there is no longer any investment in them. Also the newer writers have probably never read the comics themselves! Take care and fingers crossed for tomorrow.
