McFarlane Super Powers.... Ummm... Why ? Is there something I'm missing here ? McFarlane created SPAWN... OK. He had a long run on Spiderman... Ummm... Marvel... Why isn't this the Adams or Miller or Aparo or Kane collection?
ReplyDeleteSorry, interrupted with a drip. Surely there are some more iconic names to use than Todd McFarlane ? Even I might look at a Ditko or Kirby inspired collection... Just think how cool that'd look. A Kirby Joker, or Ditko Batman diorama... I'd buy that for a dollar, and they don't even feature RoboCop! Have a good day Terry. Seeya.

While other Image creators squandered their money McFarlane had a very strong work ethic and created a company and the figures are simply McFarlane labelled -as you might label "Palitoy" an Action Man/GI Joe. Its basically the company name covering a number of things and the main ones are trading cards and action figures -it's how he has staid well off!

DeleteThey do figures and sets based on Frank Miller Batman but I am guessing that no Siegel and Shuster Superman or Bob Kane/.Bill Finger Batman sets will appear -they would need to pay out to the estates of all three. Its why they killed off Kirby New Gods and rebooted them. Creators always get the shitty end of the stick and 97% of 'fans' do not give a crap
DeleteYeah. But really the creators always have - and probably always will - be exploited in one way or another. Just look at poor old Van Gogh... by his own brother no less ( though the story is more complicated of course )... Still, creation is it's own goal in many ways. Just enjoy making things and hope that others too get some pleasure from what you do.
DeleteSadly enjoying making comics does not pay bills! It should do since there are enough online for people to buy but... Its interesting how creators who get ripped off go into publishing then riip of creators they use! A Purple Hood playset...hmmm...maybe after the movie and TV series LOL!
