I think that if anything proves you do NOT need huge wads of cash
to organise a mini comic con it has to be Donna Barr’s Clallam Bay
Comic Con.
All of the photos that follow are from and (c)2012 Steve Willis. Yes, the Steve Willis of Morty The Dog fame. I still have a couple of copies of the Morty books from Starhead (?) Comix years ago!

“Eventually we made it to the Clallam Bay Comicon, which basically consisted of a couple covered booths set up in Donna Barr’s front yard. Ron is recording Donna for the documentary he is working on.”

I’ve left Steve’s comments with the photos as he knows what’s going on!
THANKS, Steve!

He’s reading a copy of Terminal. I brought what few comix I still have in print to give away.
The comic con. Hey,this is the first event and it takes some
organising and knowing Donna -the second event will be bigger. Though I
think the whole idea was the get away from the huge entrance/table fees
and actually get creators together.
I keep thinking that this is akin to the monthly/bi-monthly comic
marts that we used to throw together in the 1980s/early 1990s. No “big”
names (apart from Donna Barr of course), just creators and comic folk getting together.
Really grass roots comickers.
