1. THE ROSY-CROSS

A traveler throughout history, an eternal pilgrim, the man known as Count Saint-Germain is the immortal survivor of the ancient civilization of Atlantis and the keeper of its mighty secrets.

Throughout the centuries, he has faced the sinister Maleficus, a dark wizard and a renegade from his age-old order, who wants only to steal the Count’s secrets in order to spread his own evil influence and rule the world...

This prodigious and thrilling occult saga from the pens of two great masters of Italian comics, writer Pier Carpi and artist Luciano Bernasconi, was originally published in France in 1982.

Ahh. The Comte de Saint Germain... I wonder whether he read this comic series? (that's supposing he existed of course -if you don't get this remark do some research psst: there are You Tube videos).

Opening at Stonehenge, naturally, and a dire warning to St. Germain that his old enemy has returned. Who he/she?  Maleficus of course. The story is fun and full of drama and some scary mummy action (behave!).  This book sets the scene for the storyline and Carpi's story as I wrote is fun. Bernasconi's art is nice to see -good crisp black and white and full of character.

Hard to write too much as it would involve spoilers but if you like your heroes long lived, violin playing and an occult master then this is your book.

Recommended and a classic.
