Arrested by the Costaverdean authorities because of pressure from the
US, XIII and his friends are awaiting their extradition. Instead,
they’re freed by Costaverdean troops in disguise. But they can’t afford
to stick around, as they’re still on the run from the most powerful
nation on Earth. Desperate for money, McLane decides to go after
Maximilian’s gold, as Mullway believes he’s found the location of the
third silver watch. The problem is that the location is under 150 feet
of water…Seriously, I ran out of things to write about XIII when it had reached the fourth volume. I do love the characters who pop up with a, uh, passing resemblance to people in real life. Look at that second page -it that Ted Kennedy or what??
So, rather than plunder previous postings I’ll just list why you should be buying this series:
1) It is one of the best European espionage thrillers you’ll ever read.
2) the artwork is superb. No faulting uniforms, vehicles or hardware let alone figures -and gorgeously drawn women (all of whom seem ready to snap your nuts off at the flutter of an eye-lash if you cross them!)
3) It is one of the best European espionage thrillers you’ll ever read.
4) SUPERB writing with lots of twists and turns.
And if I’ve forgotten to mention it, this is one of the best European espionage thrillers you’ll ever read. In case you think otherwise, I can tell you that Cinebook’s guarantee is that no series is just going to stop leaving you feeling cheated.
Cinebook is, after all, the best UK comics publisher.
