PLEASE Consider Supporting CBO

Please consider supporting Comic Bits Online because it is a very rare thing in these days of company mouthpiece blogs that are only interested in selling publicity to you. With support CBO can continue its work to bring you real comics news and expand to produce the video content for this site. Money from sales of Black Tower Comics & Books helps so please consider checking out the online store.

Wicked Comics and Asociacion Espanola de Amigos del Comic Join Forces!

August 24th,2012, Malta

Malta’s Wicked Comics and Spain’s Asociacion Espanola de Amigos del Comic (AEAC) are proud to announce that they are officially collaborating together in their never ending quest to promote comic culture.

Their first venture together is going to be a tie-in of their respective annual conventions. Things will kick off in Madrid with EXPOCOMIC which is going to be held between Thursday 29th November till Sunday 2nd December 2012, while the fun will continue in Malta with the fourth instalment of the MALTA COMIC CON happening a week later on Saturday 8th December and Sunday 9th December 2012. Having the comic conventions a week apart enables both voluntary organisations to attract and share more guests from outside Europe as well as promote each other’s event more efficiently.

When Miguel Dominguez got in touch with us, we found out that both our voluntary organisations were working along similar lines, so the next logical step was to collaborate together. We are very excited to be working with AEAC from whom we can only learn and improve our convention. Moreover, this is just the first step, and plans are already in place to expand our collaboration further” said Chris Le Galle, Vice President of Wicked Comics.

We walk parallel paths so it only makes sense that our trails would cross at some point to work together in the promotion not only of our own events, but the culture of comics in our countries” -says Emilio Gonzalo, president of AEAC-“We are very happy to be able to work with Wicked Comics to optimize resources and share ideas. It’s a pleasure to know that there are more people out there with the will to keep fighting to spread our love for comics

Wicked Comics is a voluntary organization based in Malta, which is aimed at promoting the comic culture worldwide. Formed in 2005, Wicked Comics is responsible for the creation of a comic scene in Malta and have always been committed to giving the local comic artists and enthusiast the opportunity to learn more about this component of popular culture while providing them with a variety of suitable platforms to hone and showcase their skills. Wicked Comics’ flagship event is the Malta Comic Convention which was first held in 2009 and has been held annually ever since. Wicked Comics also use their Malta Comic Con website as a portal to the world of comics where news, articles, interviews and reviews on all components of this culture are regularly uploaded. A variety of web-comics are also hosted on the Malta Comic Con website.

AEAC was founded 13 years ago by a group of comic culture enthusiast with the aim of sharing their passion and love for the world of comic books with the rest of the world. Their work mainly consisted of organising exhibitions, holding discussion panels, organising comic conventions, and supporting creators both in Spain and abroad. Throughout their 13 years of hard work and comic culture promotion AEAC grew and evolved, adapted to changing times, but remained faithful to their Credo; that of using their personal skills and resources for the benefit of the association and for no personal financial gain. Their flagship events are the annual Expomanga held in spring (usually in May) and the Expocomic held annually towards the end of the year.
