PLEASE Consider Supporting CBO

Please consider supporting Comic Bits Online because it is a very rare thing in these days of company mouthpiece blogs that are only interested in selling publicity to you. With support CBO can continue its work to bring you real comics news and expand to produce the video content for this site. Money from sales of Black Tower Comics & Books helps so please consider checking out the online store.
Thank You

Make money out of this.

As an historian I have seen many examples of people whose work, in various fields, was never appreciated and they lived hand-to-mouth existences.

They died.

Suddenly everyone had 'always' recognised their breakthroughs and work and "Is it not a disgrace that they received npo reward or gratitude from people when they were alive!" (that usually gets written by someone who never recognised (if they knew of it) the said person's work and if they did know of it had no interest in it...until THEY could make a name for themselves.

And make money.

Nikola Tesla is one such person -well known in Eastern Europe but ignore as a distraction in the rest of the world.

That letter. A sketch...those now become big earners for the fake admirers.

It is even worse in comics where there is example after example of great creators, badly paid but greatly admired (when they end up in nursing homes or hospitals and appeals go out to help now that they need it..."he wasn't that good an artist/writer" seems to be an excuse offered to ignore appeals - but oh the praise when that much admired person dies!

Even today, 2019 creators are treated like shit. Exploited by 'caring, honest and good' publishers who milk every red penny from their work -"Hey, we found some unfinished pages and we are putting them into a book so you suckers give us your money!"

I am not even going to apologise if that sounds a little dark because that is what comics always has been.

Here is the thing though: I have decided not to become part of that greed machine.  I have arranged (legally) that when I snuff it my online bookstore is deleted along with all files.  But then I have rough pages, character sketches, original pages of art, correspondence covering over 45 years.

Well, I found the solution to people getting their hands on any of that (if they were interested) and it took from 20:00-23:00 hours yesterday to carry out but here you go. Make money out of this.

I need the money while I'm alive.
