Rachel McAdams Joins Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange
The actress takes on her first superhero movie
After months of speculation, Rachel McAdams confirmed to TheWrap on Monday that she will star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange movie.
The True Detective star will play
the female lead, though Marvel has not yet announced exactly what
character that will be. The movie centers on Stephen Vincent Strange
(Cumberbatch), a former neurosurgeon who—after a terrible
accident—begins exploring the mystical world and becomes Earth’s
protector against magical villains and threats.
Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor are also onboard for the film.
Hmm. Well, in classic Doctor Strange, the era that I am familiar with, there was Victoria Bentley who was a fellow mystic and Clea, of course, on the side of light. Then there was Umar, sister of Dormammu on the side of dark. I suspect Bentley would be left out altogether though and the other two are more longstanding characters.
