I saw an image of this figure -the running version- and thought that it just looked ugly. Anime/Manga inspired? There is "something" about it but it just isn't the Flash.
And what do others think? The figure retailing at $79.99 has sold out. Maybe it looks better "live" I just dont know. It sold out. Shows what I know. Here are the details and link:

The Flash: DC Comics Variant
The Flash Collectible Figure by Square Enix
Play Arts Kai $79.99
Bringing new style to the Scarlet Speedster
In this iteration of The Flash, Square Enix has placed great care in staying true to the classic red suit with yellow accents. The costume’s complex yet sleek lines are reminiscent of a top-of-the-line fighter jet or racecar; capturing the attention of all who lay eyes on it, inviting them to take this piece of art in their hands. An effect accessory can be attached to The Flash figure to recreate his super-fast movement. Enjoy the heroic posing of The Fastest Man Alive, brimming with the energy of lightning speed.

Yp. It's anime inspired. I see the same kind of design with kids who bring in their Kamen Rider or Gundum toys to class. That's fine - the problem is the Flash does not wear some boxy-robot-tech-armour suit. The Flash is smooth. Somewhere in comic-land Barry Allen is spinning like a tornado in his grave shouting out 'This is what my sacrifice is worth ?'
ReplyDeleteThe Doom re-boot. Well.... the Cormen FF is the only film worth seeing. It's dated. The effects are corny. The acting is XXX.... the Thing suit ( and it IS greatl - especially the snarl look - I think that must have taken up most of their budget ) is the best actor in the movie... that said - it IS recognizably the FF in all their glory. Well... 'nuff said.
Yeah, first thing I thought of was the Gundum model kit I bought Michael in the 1970s...or was that Macross? The "energy" attachments just make it look uglier. Now, Nth Man is more like it -not the live action or 1960s cartoon but the 1990s animated movie!
ReplyDeleteAnd no Black Tower Japanese hero looks like this. Ooops!
