PLEASE Consider Supporting CBO

Please consider supporting Comic Bits Online because it is a very rare thing in these days of company mouthpiece blogs that are only interested in selling publicity to you. With support CBO can continue its work to bring you real comics news and expand to produce the video content for this site. Money from sales of Black Tower Comics & Books helps so please consider checking out the online store.
Thank You

The Schedule -starting on 1st January 2022

All sorted out now.

The new book prices will start as from 1st January 2022.

Comics and comic albums will increase in price by £2.00-£3.00  ($2.60-$3.70)

Graphic novels will increase by £5.00 ($6.60)

Books such as The Hooper Interviews as well as The Red Paper and UFO "world mystery" books will increase by £6.00-£7.00 ($7.94 -$9.26)

You can translate that out into your local currency by using XE currency converter https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/

Since moving to Print on Demand the prices of all titles has been kept artificially low to attract new readers but has largely failed which is not good for a business which is my sole income. Add to this the fact that the POD company takes a big cut for simply holding a pdf file and, of course, printers want their cut however, printeres have decided that now is the time to get greedy and push more even bigger price increases and screw establishing a good reputation to draw in more clients.

Printers have now demanded that formats are changed so that they make more money and offer the publisher less creative choice as in the past. The POD company, of course, which is NOT paying the printers and already gets a cut, wants in on this so has made its own changes which has limited creator/publisher creativity (a line of A5 format books has had to be cancelled) but gives them more of a cut of what the publishers' books make (I have gone over all of this before along with the breakdowns of who gets what -creator scraping up what's left).

Added to this any sales in the United States are subject to U.S. taxes as the POD is based in the United States (there are none inthe UK) -my books, for instance, are created in the UK and books sold in the UK are printed here and there is no U.S. connection except the POD. The same if a book is purchased in France or Germany -all produced and posted locally but when the U.S. Tax service sees the sales registered by the U.S. POD they want theirs. I once sold £28.00 ($37.00) worth of books. Printers, POD and U.S. Tax service took their money leaving me....£10.00 ($13.00).

Hopefully that explains why prices need to increase and as few people are buying now I doubt it will make much difference to anyone out there but it might ease my sleepless nights worrying about paying bills and eating (it doesn't but I like to kid myself).

So, 1st January, 2022 changes will be seen.
