Stats or...it is very hot and I bent over to pick something up and my shorts ripped

Posted yesterday morning on the Black Tower Face Book page and up-dated today.

Wow...and the  UK must have seen what I wrote!  :-)  The UK has not appeared this high up in views for...a VERY long time!

I was asked about the audience (readers as we used to call them) for CBO. Since I use Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and so on who was attracted to the site?

Well, I have said this before; the main audience for CBO has always been USA, Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany -I post this info usually once a month on CBO.

China WAS the biggest audience until a couple years ago when Google actively blocked views from the PRC.

The UK can come 5th, 7th or even 10th -Bulgaria, Chechia (former Czech Republic) and other countries filling in the top ten places.

It's rare for the UK to get into the top 5 views sources.

I checked the Anomalous Observational Phenomena blog as well as the Zine Zone blog. Same wide spread of readers with the UK pretty low down on the list. With the AOP blog the UK is 9th with Bulgaria 8th and Spain 10th.

Yes, it does seem almost unbelievable that what others have called the UKs biggest comic blog (a few million views points to that) attracts views from every country in the world yet struggles to get UK views.

Same applies with the Zine Zone and AOP blogs.

You can really only put it down to people in the UK not having enquiring minds or any real interest in anything unless it is a free download or Marvel or DC.

I have gone over this many times and just stopped worrying!

I also stopped worrying why thousands visit CBO and see the Black Tower books posts (maximum views for one of these posts in 2017 was 3454) yet none buys a copy of even the cheapest book.

The thing is even libraries are finding that Millennials do not like to get up and go visit a library and borrow books. These are the same Millennials who will eat meat but have to have "straight to pan packages" because they suffer anxiety and panic attacks if they have to touch meat.

"We need more home grown, British comics -super heroes, sci fi, horror!" I read on so many groups. Send the link to just such books...nothing. Some times they'll even delete your reply without comment.

The books are there but, sadly, Romero's Children are not the audience.

Note that the UK and British Golden Age blogs are not included as I made those private following so much of my original research being stolen from there and no credit given. Now you want the info -buy the books.

Also note that after months the Paypal Donate button is gone -no one donated so why waste space.

Blogging, Googling -same thing. Except if you are Blogging and Googling

At least part of the mystery of "where have all the CBO viewers one?" has been solved. Not bad viewing figures here but there was a drop.

Yesterday I was checking my Google+ page and inadvertently pressed the wrong button..1,523 views. I checked again because I had not idea what this was for.  It seems the CBO items had received 1,523 views via Google+.

Which got a loud "huh?" out of me. I fumbled about in the CBO dashboard and found that comments from Google+ were no longer accepted and that stats from Google+ were not included.

But...Google OWNS Blogger???

So, adding up uncounted Google+ views CBO has gone well over 4 million. So many stats seem to be blocked thanks to Google's "clean-up" this year.

I'm sticking with the last Independent (confirmed by two unconnected sources) that CBO has had over 6 million views.

None of this makes blogging fun.

You are checking out the AOP blog, too right?

oh. BUY my books!  :-)

Strange & Mysterious Beasts?

&

I was told that it was probably a good idea not to reveal all of the contents of the new book. Fair enough. It is 324 pages with lots of photographs.  If you have read one of my previous books then I will point out that this new look at the chupacabra is expanded on.  I have managed to draw some conclusions on certain previously unidentified beasts.

I am guessing that the conclusions in the chapter on the Shunka Warak'in and the famous stuffed and mounted specimen are going to really upset some cryptozoologists.

In High Strangeness and UFO Contact? I looked at the faults in Ufology and how the subject needed drastic overhauling and I do the same here regarding mystery animal research which seems to be full of charlatans and liars out to make money rather than look for the truth. I try to give anyone approaching the subject matter some advice and guidelines but 'cryptozoology' and 'cryptozoologist' are two words they ought not to use.

Strange & Mysterious Beasts is the smaller format book while Mysterious & Strange Beasts is the standard larger A4 format.

IGNORE the "only ships from North America" as that is just a site message error

I need to point out that, much though I really do want to avoid this, US taxes are not leaving me much in the way of profit from sales.  I really do not want to increase book prices since I think that at the moment they are fair (considering what a purchaser gets and the amount of my work that gets plagiarized).  I am told that it has to be an option, however, I have until 1st February, 2018 to decide.

Anyway, enough publisher waffle, here are some of the contents:

The Monster of the Forest of Mouliere
The Beast of Lyonnais
The Beast of Cevennes, Gard and Vivarais
The Beast of Sarlat
The Beast of Gevaudan

With DESCENT Elmes returns to his comic roots having spent some years involved in animation. In this 104 page classic only one prisoner aboard a space craft awakes from stasis alive. All the others are dead..well, the living dead! Can the lone surviving prisoner and the guards survive the zombie onslaught? Who knows -but we can tell you this is the most zombie fun you’ll get outside of the Resident Evil movies!!

If John Erasmus is a vastly under-rated talent then not far behind him is Tom Elmes who has worked on international award winning animation outside of comics.  When Tom said: “Do you want to publish a couple books of mine?” I must admit I thought long and hard -I think 1.3 microseconds!
I did wonder whether he might still have that “edge” after all these years.  He has.
In the 1980s Tom Elmes was earning himself the title “King of the Zine Nasty” -classic, somewhat gorey, stories such as “The Man Who Ate Himself To Death” are still enough to make you go “URGH!” after all these years.

Some More Things Strange & Sinister

Some More Things Strange & Sinister

Follow-up to Some Things Strange & Sinister. For those interested in Ufology, cryptozoology, hominology, unusual natural history, ghosts and mysteries in general. The secret history of gorillas in the UK -before they were officially  'discovered'.

The history of  the Wild men of Europe, the UK and US: something that in the 1800s become very "pop culture"  Very pop culture and totally forgotten today! Hominology. Sasquatch and Bigfoot -is there evidence for their existence?

No sitting on the fence here -the Patterson-Gimlin film is looked at as well as other evidence.  The Author's conclusions?

You might be surprised. Giant snakes. Amazons. The Giant serpent of Carthage. The Girt Dog of Ennerdale -another big cult 'creature' amongst paranormal and cryptozoological circles. The Beast of Gevaudan -what was it and were there really descendents of the creature in the 19th century -one of which was actually brought to London?   Believe it or not more than one incident of historical crocodiles cases in the UK.  In fact, far more than even the Author had thought . And, after more than a century of claims by 'researchers' that it no longer exists: The Silent City of Alaska and the near legendary 'lost' photograph taken of it.

This and much more. Updated with extra pages and photographs.
