Someone asked how Marvel are going to turn Avengers 3 and the next Captain America into a "Civil War" event? Surely you would need to have all the cast of characters from that particular crappy money earner series?

( ***I have to say I cannot reproduce the tweet here but it is of Tommy Lee Jones from MIB telling Will Smith: "Imagine what you'll know tomorrow" -you can see the tweet on Digitalspy****)
Tomorrow it is then, but we at iDigital Times will follow this story
as it develops. But in the meantime, let us know what you think this new
teaser image of Civil War means in the comments section below.

Seriously? The first Civil War series with all its spin-off to other books was shit. It truly put the nail in the coffin of Marvel Comics. Close friends suddenly became enemies by moving from their liberal and moral stands of decades to join a very fascistic system or oppose it. As far as I was concerned I no longer had an interest in these characters -especially as Tony Stark seems to have a character change from one series/book to the next. Now he is outright becoming a "bad guy". I'm sorry but -shit.
Dead.
Di$ney see a chance for more money. And as I think I pointed out before, the idea that Captain America 3 and the next Avengers movie were moving toward Iron Man leading a "new team" has been mooted. However, everyone thought West Coast Avengers. But there are unconfirmed rumours from my usual sources who have been spot on before that Andrew Garfield has been mentioned in connection with one of the films and even talking with "a certain director" -Garfield, of course, played Peter Parker in the "rebooted" Spider-man movies....
I'm sorry, folks but is anyone else not seeing this? 'Marvel' (Di$ney) is going in circles with what appears to be the sole intention of just milking every penny they can get. It also shows that the comics are becoming -as I have posted several times now- mere vehicles for the movies which make the real money.
I am just glad I'm out of Marvel.

Civil War #1 -- Summer 2015
Coming next year!

Marvel Comics Teases Civil War #1 Coming Summer 2015 But What Does It Mean?
Civil War is
one of the most iconic stories in Marvel Comics history. The battle
between superheroes is not new but what Civil War did was pit the
entirety of the Marvel Universe superhero community against each other
when Iron Man/Tony Stark enacted a program to have every superpowered
being’s secret identity revealed and registered with the government.
Of course, many were against this and Captain America led the resistance against the Pro-Registration side.
However, a day after New York Comic-Con 2014
wrapped up Marvel Comics has slipped an ominous image of Iron Man and
Cap pulling for Spider-Man -- in the Iron Spider uniform -- seemingly to
join their side. The headline Civil War #1 Summer 2015 was all that
accompanied the image.
Spider-Man was one of the characters who was directly affected by the events of Civil War.
If readers can recall, Spider-Man first joined Iron Man with the
Pro-Registration side -- hence the Iron Spider suit that Tony Stark
built for him. As part of the Pro-Registration, Spider-Man revealed his
identity as Peter Parker to the world before having a change of heart
and joining Cap's side.
Even when Civil War concluded, Peter Parker's
identity being revealed had lasting implications for Spider-Man as his
enemies now knew who he was and threatened his family on mulitple
occasions. Aunt May was on the verge of death after being shot by an
assassin meant for Spider-Man. Of course, that was all undone by One More Day....but we won't go into that.
So, what does this mean? The Civil War story concluded back in 2007. Could the publisher be revisiting the series? They already announced Secret Wars will
return in 2015 -- which was another iconic story done decades before --
so they could be retelling the story. Or are they reprinting the story,
or …. who knows.
They could be retelling the story again since Iron Man is going to be a bad guy during AXIS. Marvel Comics is no stranger to cryptic teases being dropped in journalists' inboxes but this is a total head scratcher.
Could they be teasing the subtitle of the ‘Cap 3’ film? Not likely, but interesting to think about.
Agent M, Executive Editorial Director at Marvel, dropped this little tweet in response to the questions.

Well, I liked CIVIL WAR and especially the INITIATIVE fallout when they used a lot of second and third stringers. For me the breaking point was the whole DARK REIGN story.
ReplyDeleteAnd CIVIL WAR still had repercussions until the whole Marvel NOW nonsense started. By the way, Captain America and Iron Man have NEVER needed an excuse to kick the shit out of each other. Just read dem old Bob Layton IRON MAN issues.
Yeah, I never got that whole Iron Man -Captain America thing that started in the 1980s. Weird but I think that was pandering to fans of each character asking "who'd win?" In the animated series Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes it was all about Cap trying to show Iron Man/Stark that he should not always depend on just his armour. Stark WAS a baddie (in a twisted way trying to save the world) in the final days of The Avengers volume 1 -where they made Wasp look very insect-faery like. Weird. I'll have to find those issues. BUT I think we all see Civil War in a movie followed by Dark Reign.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, the infamous THE CROSSING story. You know, Disney will make an omnibus edition about anything even this or ACTS OF VENGEANCE ( although there are some John Byrne AVENGERS WEST COAST issues in there ).....
