PLEASE Consider Supporting CBO

Please consider supporting Comic Bits Online because it is a very rare thing in these days of company mouthpiece blogs that are only interested in selling publicity to you. With support CBO can continue its work to bring you real comics news and expand to produce the video content for this site. Money from sales of Black Tower Comics & Books helps so please consider checking out the online store.
Thank You

If anyone knows these people please get them to contact me!

Pain, the inability to walk far and the sheer and utter boredom got me onto the internet today.

There I was cruising the netwaves when I saw an old photo of me -from 2015 so five years. Room Oblivion as it used to look!   What surprised me more were the number of views on this "RSSing" site (whatever that is). More than half the total CBO views (see top of page).

I look soooooo manly!

Anyway, despite all the views absolutely no feedback so I will re-post and hope I get lucky!

Hello, All!

In my ongoing quest to run into a brick wall as many times as possible...no. That's not right.  In my ongoing quest to find out more about obscure UK comic creators of the past I have needed my nose and teeth fixed several times.....oh, there, see -THAT is where I should have typed "running into brick walls" but the moment has gone!

Anyway, being far more serious: I have looked and dug around the internet and written letters far and wide but still have not been able to find photographs of most of these creators.

Gerald Swan and Denis M. Reader you might think had photos taken by someone -apparently, Denis Gifford thought it was "a bit impolite" to ask if he might take a photograph (oh, Denis!!) and Jock McCail and his brother, William A. Ward Harry Banger , Samuel Assael (John Spencer)-you'd think family at least might have a page or online images. Nothing.

Now I know that there are quite a few knowledgeable comickers out there with all sorts of journals, books, etc.  So, my big request is this: if you have any photographs of these people or others who worked for Swan -even if only "cartoon portraits" could you please get in touch or pass the word around?

My sincere THANKS to anyone who can help!

Cheers
Terry

End note 9th January 2020
Althopugh I have found many rare photos (they were on the Yahoo group but are being transferred to the Face Book group) many have eluded me. There must be relatives or old friends of these people out there or even people who worked with these luminaries and have photos of "works do's" or studios/offices.

If anyone knows these people please get them to contact me!
