After her debut in Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman will finally be getting her very own shot at the silver screen.

It’s been a long time coming and now the eagerly awaited film is at long last is officially in production. Principal photography on the movie is already well underway in England, and some recently leaked photos from the films set have finally confirmed part of the film’s setting.

While fans already knew that Princess Diana’s first shot at the big screen would be divided up between two different eras, fans were stuck speculating as to whether the film would partly take place during the first world war or the second.

Even though Wonder Woman has her origins in WWII, there was a possibility that the new movie would play out her backstory a few years earlier. At long last we have an answer.

Diana Prince will be helping the Allies battle the Central Powers in World War I.

Gal Gadot In Full WWI Women's Attire

It looks like Wonder Woman traded in her Amazonian armor for something a bit more… uniform. Gadot was spotted on set wearing an English women’s uniform from WWI, hat, coat and all.

The costumes, especially Gadot’s, and various pieces of set design, such as enlistment posters, have placed the first part of the film in the heart of the Great War.
The Fate Of Chris Pine
Comic Book Movie

An earlier photo released from set revealed Pine in antiquated battle gear, suggesting that his character, Steve Trevor, would make an appearance during the first part of the film. Because it was already revealed that the film would be split up between the past and the present, several fans speculated that Trevor would either not make it out of the war, or, be long gone before the beginning of the second half of the film. However, recent rumors have led some fans to believe that Pine is actually playing two separate characters: Steve Trevor, and Steve Trevor’s grandfather. This would mean that Pine would appear in both halves of the movie.
Ewan Bremner And His Moustache
Comic Book Movie

While it’s currently unknown who exactly Bremner will be playing, his ensemble suggests he’s a member of a Scottish regiment, which would be fitting considering the actor is Scottish himself.
Wonder Woman is slated to hit theaters June 23, 2017, but fans can catch the warrior princess in action during Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, March 25, 2016.
