When a Japanese patrol plane is shot down by a mysterious aggressor, the international community immediately suspects the Chinese – the attack took place off the Japanese Senkaku Islands, which China also claims as their own. The incident is extremely serious and could lead to all-out war, and the Pentagon sends the carrier USS Ronald Reagan, with Buck on board, to investigate the attack and attempt to defuse the situation before it gets out of control.
I have said and written it enough times but why not once again? The art cannot be faulted and when it comes to the aircraft and aerial scenes the best way to describe the art is "beautiful". I was always impressed by the older Buck Danny stories I read in German but these newer books bring everything up-to-date and though the aircraft drawings in the early books were spot on the art here takes it all up to Mach 10.
The story has its twists and turns but does Danny succeed in his mission? Well, I could tell you but that would spoil things.
If you are a fan of military art or the old war comics of years gone by then this series should really be on your pull-list. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
45 out of 10!
