This unique collection brings together almost all the collaborations – many – of Ferrandez and Rudolphe, who started in comics in the late 70s. Pre-published in prestigious magazines that made up the showcase of comics in France, as Heavy Heavy Metal, Pilote and (A Suivre) these short stories, in black and white, tackle every genre: thrillers, fantasy The historical narrative, the music column and even science fiction.
These stories in the 1980s, resulted in three separate albums published by various publishers: Hour of the Wolf (Editions du Cygne), Outsiders (The Hunanoïdes Associates) and Viscount (Dargaud). They are gathered here for the first time.
There is a nice “history of” feature with a few (b&w) covers and photographs which is nice if you want to get more than the above brief description.
Some very nice slick black and white work here though I’m assuming that the grey-scaled art in “Dead End Street” and “Le Revers de la Medaille” was originally in colour. Eye-catching was the art in “Der Gruppenfuhrer” though, to be honest, I could not really find work I didn’t like. It is nice to see not everything is in colour from Europe!
