PLEASE Consider Supporting CBO

Please consider supporting Comic Bits Online because it is a very rare thing in these days of company mouthpiece blogs that are only interested in selling publicity to you. With support CBO can continue its work to bring you real comics news and expand to produce the video content for this site. Money from sales of Black Tower Comics & Books helps so please consider checking out the online store.
Thank You

Tardi Goddamn This War!

One day, some **** is going to think to themselves: "I wonder whether we should send this PR to CBO?" Which blog in the UK regularly promotes French and European comics/BD? Don't panic -think it over.

The horrors and lessons of The First World War have rarely been so powerfully communicated as in the graphic novels of tardi. Inspired by his grandfather’s experiences, the French comics creator meticulously researches his searing indictments of war.

It Was The War Of The Trenches and Goddamn This War!, with historian Jean-Pierre Verney, are among his masterworks available in English from Fantagraphics.

Tardi’s award-winning career spans more than four decades and includes the period detective Adèle Blanc-Sec and adaptations of crime novels by Léo Malet. In 2013, Tardi, a much-admired auteur and a man of principle, turned down the Légion d’honneur, France’s highest civilian honour.

To reflect on the centenary of the outbreak of The Great War, Tardi makes his first ever public interview in Britain. He will be in conversation with Pat Mills (above), writer of Charley’s War (Titan Books), the compelling saga of a young Cockney private enduring The First World War. An exceptional, unmissable encounter between two passionate anti-War comics creators.

Please note that Tardi will not be signing books at this event. In association with the Institut Français London, who are holding a concert on Tuesday November 11th in the Ciné Lumière with Tardi and his wife Dominique Grange. Photo of Tardi © and courtesy of Véronique Huyghes.
