It is time at last for Thorgal to return to his family. However, Aaricia is not staying idle after her rescue by Jolan, and tries to put together a fleet to attack Shaigan’s stronghold – unaware that her husband is no longer the dreaded pirate lord. By the time the two find themselves on their own island again, Aaricia is disinclined to simply forgive everything, and locks Thorgal up in a cage while she makes up her mind about him.
up until a certain point I had only ever read Thorgal in parts, in German. I just assumed it was another "barbarian story" but Cinebook have pulled my eyes wide open on this.
Magic, science fiction and a great deal more -including a trip to Central America- has made this series, in my opinion as someone who has read comics from all countries since the age of 6 (I'm, uh, a "very young" 57 now), one of the best ever.
The art, obviously, is lovely and detailed and the colouring (by Graza) superb. As for Van Hamme's writing...well, I think if I carry on praising him people will think I'm being bribed! It has been a wild series from volume 1 on and here we have volume 15 -with others to follow.
How do you sum this series up? Well, to quote the book: "The gods have put a man to the test" and if that don't grab you walk away now and never ever return to this blog!
Fabulous fabulous fabulous!
Hang on....one...two...three...oh, I can use one more to fill this month's quota: Fabulous!!
