In the grim future of our world, Earth has been ravaged by sentient machines, the human race all but exterminated. Only scattered groups of children have survived by hiding in tunnels to escape the murderous robots that still scour the surface. One day, a scavenging party for one such group happens upon a massive humanoid robot bearing the letters SAM on its armour. Caught by surprise, young Ian is about to be vaporised … but the machine doesn’t shoot…
Hmm. You know how you get used to certain books from a publisher then a new one appears and you get a bit excited? The same with me and SAM.
However, I am just not sure about the art style. Nothing wrong with it as such though the "big eyes" of Manga are always off-putting it's not so pronounced here so it isn't that. I think I'll need to wait until the second book -the entire series is presented in four parts- and see if the art gels with me.
That said, I know people out there will love this and sales over my mere scribblings is what matters. So far Olivier Cadic has not gone wrong with any of his book choices and I have eaten my words on a couple book before so we'll see!
