With the Master of Machines as their new leader, the Crusaders are ready to assault Jerusalem once more. The Sultan must now choose between his love for a Christian princess and his faith. And Gauthier of Flanders, to free his ally Osarias’s Jewish people, will have to confront the last part of his mysterious past, a Jinni. As the final battle is joined, truths will be revealed on the nature of gods and demons and the ambitions of men.
I’ve been waiting a looong time for this one! The plot thickens (is that even possible??) as Sar Mitra continues his evil machinations and the twists continue. There isn’t just sorcery here but some fantastic medieval battle scenes and even the non-battle scenes tend to make me go “oooh” because of the exquisite artwork involved here. This is a master-class in drawing comics.
And there is another side that I must mention: the colour work of Jean-Jacques Chagnaud that surely ought to get him a cover credit?! Chagnaud’s colour work is so subtle in places you don’t realise what he has done. However, it enhances this book even more and on a cold, wet February morning this is just the boost you need.
