  1. A saddening shock to wake up to this morning. RIP Ziggy.

  2. Devastated, Bowie was my ultimate iconic hero and a constant thread that ran through my live - I still remember the day my brother (sadly also no longer with us) bought the "Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" LP and said "Paul come on listen to this its amazing stuff" he played the LP and it blew 11 year old me away - my brother (David) and myself always had that "Bowie link" and when the 5 year age gap got too much for us, we always had Bowie to talk about so to Mr Bowie thank you not only for the years of unbelievable and fantastic and "amazing stuff" music that made me think and dance but also for the abiding memory of my brother who I "visit" from time to time when ever I put on the "Ziggy" LP - Gawd I though Bowie was immortal so sad.

  3. Someone of face book asked "Why didn't you write anything?" I think the post title says it all. "Baaul's Hymn" from the 1982 TV play BAAL (on You Tube)really blew my mind. The last thing I expected this morning was this news and his new release was last Friday. I need good news.

  4. I remember the Baal play and the EP that was released from it, hard stuff to watch and listen to in many ways but yeah I agree "wow" - I watched the "Blackstar" video release of the single and firs thought wow (again) stunning video then seeing Bowie he looked so very frail, haggard and very old (69 is not that old and he normally looked pretty good for his age) thought it was his heart but looking back makes sense - brave man making that album about death (his death?) when so ill bu the was always a true artist - major iconic loss up there with losing Lennon and Elvis - Im just gutted

  5. The latest album has a track -Lazarus- which is supposedly his response to death. I can remember the Daily Mirror review of BAAL and how it was disgusting/sickening "as we saw Bowie's character decay before us". My response to that was F off, Daily Mirror. I don't think it a coincidence Bowie wanted the album released on his birthday -Bowie wanted something done a certain way it got done. I remember on radio 1 when he told the story of how embarassed he was by his song "The Laughing Gnome" and how his son used to keep playing it. He'd hide the record and his son would contact the studio and they'd send another copy!
