PLEASE Consider Supporting CBO

Please consider supporting Comic Bits Online because it is a very rare thing in these days of company mouthpiece blogs that are only interested in selling publicity to you. With support CBO can continue its work to bring you real comics news and expand to produce the video content for this site. Money from sales of Black Tower Comics & Books helps so please consider checking out the online store.
Thank You

Here is what John Short of Kult Creations wrote:

MONDO COMIX have let us sell copies of OCTOBRIANA: HAMMER over the internet for the first time since it was offered on Kickstarter in 2018!

Written by Kult Creation's own John A. Short and illustrated by Reverend Cross artist Andrew Richmond... This 24 page black and white comic imagines what it would have been like if a certain British horror movie studio had produced a film of Octobriana back in the 1970s!

It's available with three different covers to choose from. Very limited numbers. When they're gone, they're gone!

There is absolutely no information or legal indicea in the comic and normally I am wary of reviewing such books -the legal reasons should be obvious.  However, as John Short is known to me and he is selling these books...okay.

I have thousands of comics, annuals and other comic related art material. For this reason I have learnt that art styles vary.  Richmond's style varies but overall the story helps keep it floating along. It did almost seem that something was ruhed or cut out -if you are a writer then the publisher dictates your page count (so I'm lucky).

You will notice a lot of likenesses to old Hammer film actors in this and it's a nice hommage but is it getting stale after all these years?  Not to me, but then I am a big Hammer, Trigon and B Movie nutter so seeing Lee, Cushing, Stensgaard and Pitt (if those names mean nothing to you....leave. Now.) is nice.

Octobriana I did write and draw a 7pager for back in the 1980s and if it appeared in a Samizdat form I have no idea. There are some nice touches here including the Octobriana Hammer style poster (inside back cover so in colour).

I'm guessing that unless you hurry you are going to miss out as the issues appear to be selling. Follow the link and don't miss out!
